About Me

Having always been fascinated with human behaviour, I first studied Psychology in 1993 and went on to gain a BSc(Hons) in Psychology at the University of Kent.  During my time there, I also trained as a member of Niteline, a guidance and listening service for the public.  Shortly after that, I began training in Counselling.

In 1998 I decided that Hypnotherapy was the way forward for me, having seen the benefits to a close family member.  I trained with EICH in 2000 for my Diploma in Hypnotherapy and Psychotherapy (DHP) and on graduation I became a Member of the Association for Professional Hypnosis and Psychotherapy (MAPHP).  After five years I was awarded the status of Accredited Member and I became a Supervisor to newer therapists.  I also carry out Training Analysis with students and newly qualified members of APHP.

My main areas of interest are hypnosis for childbirth (CHBPP), confidence-building, smoking cessation and weight control.

During 2009, I took maternity leave for the birth of my son.  For those who have shown interest, I successfully used hypnosis for pain control during labour, and only resorted to a few minutes of gas and air after 35 hours.  Unfortunately, the homebirth was not to be, due to emergency medical intervention during the birth itself, but I believe the hypnosis also helped in maintaining a sense of calm and avoidance of other drugs, and in the recovery period following a major haemorrhage and surgery.
