Travel insurance

When you book a holiday it is not unusual for the travel insurance to be bought at the same time or even included within the holiday price. MAKE SURE YOU KNOW WHAT YOU ARE BUYING!

In many instances pre-existing medical conditions are excluded from the travel insurance policy, it is therefore vital that you disclose your MS and any other conditions to the insurance company involved.

What happens when I disclose my medical condition?

There are various scenarios that may occur including:

• The insurance company may offer full cover at no extra cost.
• They may offer full cover with an additional cost.
• They may offer full cover with an additional excess.
• They may exclude the pre-existing condition.

What can happen if my MS isn’t declared or covered?

If you become ill while on holiday the insurance company can legitimately refuse to meet any of your medical or other expenses. If you have required a hospital stay these expenses could quite easily run into £1000’s.
